Introduction
Grafton College is committed to a General English teaching programme that focuses on the learner. Our approach is student-centred and communicative. All teachers will focus on individual aims and interests to help learners use English in an effective and practical way. The General English course focuses on integrating all four skills of language development - speaking, listening, reading and writing. Special emphasis is placed on improving communication skills, and gaining confidence in speaking English. This course also prepares you for an internationally recognised exam (e.g. Cambridge FCE or CAE)*.
*Exam fees vary between £65 and £125 for Cambridge ESOL exams and are not included in the tuition fee. For more information on other exam options and costs please contact the College.
Teachers make use of course books, but also supplement lessons with authentic material and out-of-class activities. You should allow at least two hours of self-study per day.
General English classes are available at all levels from Beginner to Advanced. We make sure you go to the right group according to your current knowledge by asking you to take a placement test upon registration. The duration of one level takes 10 weeks.
At the end of every term you will take an exam which will help us to assess your progress.
